A Charlotte native, Caroline is a rising senior at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She is currently pursuing a BA in Economics and a second major in Peace, War, and Defense, with a concentration in National and International Defense and Security. Caroline is very interested in international development and conflict resolution and has studied abroad in both Seville, Spain, and in the Balkan region. In the Balkans, she researched the fall of Yugoslavia and analyzed current peace and democracy-building efforts. Through her experience, she assessed progress in the development of state institutions, minority rights frameworks, and ethnic reconciliation in post-conflict societies. Last summer, she worked at a bipartisan think tank in DC that focused on national security. There, she wrote blog posts that analyzed various national security issues and provided policy recommendations. Here at HANDS, Caroline has been writing and coordinating the annual fall appeal letter, in addition to several other projects.
