Hanaa started creating leatherworks in 2008 to contribute to her family’s struggling income, however she was only able to make about five sales a month. After hearing about YEP, and its offering of training for young female craft makers, Hanaa applied and was selected for the program.
“That was a turning point in my artisan life. My work style has totally changed after entering this program.”
She learned how to advertise, to study markets, and to professionally photograph her products. Hanaa continued to participate in YEP, attending many training sessions and learning about internet advertising, product description, and product development. Now, Hanaa can sell about 35 products a month and even employs other women to help her with production.
Hanaa also participated in our competition for the best business development idea. Unsuprisingly, Hanaa won first place and was awarded a stock of good quality natural leather, a machine to help in the final finishing, and several tools that will help her make even more beautiful and good quality leather goods!
