Nabila had a dream—and the determination to match it.

Nabila lives with her husband and daughter Mariam in a modest, unfinished two-story home on a small plot of land. Her husband works in agriculture, and, like many families in rural Egypt, they work hard just to make ends meet.

When Nabila heard about a HANDS-sponsored microloan program run by one of our partners, Think and Do, she saw a chance—not just for extra income, but for real change.

She applied for a loan of approximately $100 and used it to rent a small piece of land to farm. It was the beginning of something much bigger than she expected.

With time and persistence, her project grew. She took another loan—this time to buy fodder and begin fattening cows. Before long, the family was producing butter, milk, and cheese. Nabila sells the products in her community, earning enough to repay her loan installments and still help with the household expenses.

What started as a rented plot of land has become a sustainable source of income for the whole family.

Thanks to your generosity, Nabila has become not only a farmer and a producer—but a provider and a builder of her family’s future. Each month she pays back her loan, with pride and purpose, and keeps moving forward.

This is what your support makes possible: real progress, one family at a time.
