A few months ago, Edwar had a huge decision to make. His prior entrepreneurial efforts had been successful enough for him to buy two calves, which he believed would be a worthwhile investment. The sale of their milk would be lucrative and cattle can be sold at premium prices, once raised. However, as time went on, his family began to face some financial challenges.
Not knowing what to do, Edwar consulted his wife. He wanted to support his family and keep this business, but his daily wages weren’t enough. It seemed as though the only choice left would be to sell one of the calves in order to feed the other.

Fortunately for them, another option became available. One of HANDS partner organizations in Egypt provided a loan to Edwar. Using this money and his business savvy, this entrepreneur kept both calves, bought enough fodder for each of them, and also rented a small piece of land for clover cultivation.
When we last spoke to Edwar, he was looking forward to the future and the profit he would make by selling the calves. HANDS donors are changing lives and creating opportunity across Egypt. From business people like Edwar across Egypt, we express our gratitude for your continued support.
