When you buy a rug, quilt, or tote bag, you keep alive the two schools of the disadvantaged garbage collector (zabbaleen) community in Moqattam, in the hills of Cairo. One school is for women and girls, who learn not only weaving, sewing, and paper recycling, but also acquire language and math skills. The other school provides a head start for their young children.
Because of your generous support for over twenty years, we have helped to change the lives of a generation of young women. Now help us do the same for the next generation.
Please join us December 7-9 (Thursday through Saturday) from 12 noon to 7 p.m. for this year’s holiday sale of handicrafts. We’re moving our event to the new Coptic Orthodox Church of Manhattan, located at 241 East 62nd Street between 2nd and 3rd Avenues, on the north side of the street.
We are expecting a new shipment of rugs, tote bags, toys and paper goods in time for the event. Come, do your holiday shopping with us. Help keep these schools in Cairo’s zabbaleen community alive.
We hope you will join us!
